Annual Senate Enrolled Act 355 Child Abuse Instruction Dear Parent or Guardian, The Indiana General Assembly passed legislation regarding child abuse instruction. Senate Enrolled Act 355 requires that annually, by December 15, the school will provide age-appropriate instruction on child abuse and sexual abuse prevention to students through grade 12. Indiana currently has no research and evidence-based curriculum developed to meet this requirement for high school students. Therefore, we will meet this requirement by sharing two videos that define and clarify the topics of consent and give specific scenarios for students to understand what consent is and is not. If you feel that your child should not participate in this program, please contact LHS administration to request an opt-out permission slip. If you have additional questions about the legislative requirement, feel free to reach out to me, Mr. Michael Miller, Mrs. Shanel Fretwell, or Mr. JD Dubes. Sincerely, Matt Jones Principal

📅 Save the Date: September 20, 2024! 📅 We are thrilled to announce that #WhyApply Day will be celebrated on September 20, 2024, marking the official start of the Indiana College GO! Campaign. This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore their future educational and career paths, and we’re eager to get everyone involved! 🎓 College Application Week 🎓 As part of the Indiana College GO! Campaign, participating colleges and universities across the state will waive their application fees during College Application Week from September 23-27, 2024. This means students can apply to colleges for free, making it easier than ever to take the next step toward their future. The Guidance Department will host activities and informational sessions to engage the entire school. While College Application Week primarily focuses on seniors, the Indiana College GO! The campaign is for students of all ages. We want to inspire everyone to start thinking about their future, regardless of their educational journey. Senior Panel: On Friday during IMPACT, all senior students can attend a panel discussion in the cafeteria. The panel will feature LHS alumni now working, attending college, or serving in the military. This is a great chance for students to hear firsthand experiences and ask questions about life after high school. For more information on Indiana institutions and their application requirements, https://learnmoreindiana.org/preadmit/. Let's make this a memorable and impactful College Application Week for all our students!
